Food & Naptime

Food
We serve a wide variety of nutritional meals which comply with the Department of Education's Child Care Food Program, and we rotate six different menus to assure diversity. We ask that you not send in food from home, unless a physician requires it.

Specialized and Restricted Diets

  1. Specialized diets or temporary restricted diets due to illness are the responsibility of the parents and not the school cook. Please do make us aware of any special requirements. According to DPW Rules, WE MUST HAVE A DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTION to be able to give a child a special dietary treatment.
  2. Parents may pack portions of lunches for children who are allergic to certain foods on the menu. Again, due to DPW regulations, we will need written instructions from the doctor.
  3. In order to be fair with all the children, and to cause the fewest problems, WE ASK THAT YOU NOT SEND FOOD OR SNACKS with your child(ren) unless there is a Doctor's dietary instruction. We serve a well-balanced menu with Breakfast, Lunch, and two snacks during the day. Children have a tendency to want what another child has, whatever it is. We do not force any child to eat anything, but the teachers will ask each child to try a spoonful of each food.

Naptime

  1. Each class will take a nap. The length depends on the age of the child and will vary between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours, beginning between 12:30 and 1:30 PM, and they will all end by 3:00 PM. Not all the Kindergarten children will nap, but those children will have a "quiet time" while their classmates nap.
  2. Infants and toddlers will sleep in cribs, while older children will be given their individual sleep mat. Parents are charged for an additional sleep mat when the mat is damaged by the child.
  3. Most children will want to bring a blanket from home to cover up during naps - PLEASE LABEL BLANKETS WITH YOUR CHILD(REN)'S NAME.
  4. You may bring the child(ren)'s "special toy" for naptime.
