Physicals & Immunizations

All children are required to have a physical examination PRIOR to enrollment at Bright Futures Child Care Center, LLC.  Both State of Pennsylvania & the Allentown Board of Health require that all their immunization shots and screenings be up to date on the day of admission and continue to be up to date as they receive booster periodically.  The child is now required to see a doctor at 2,4,5,9,12,15,18, & 24 months, and then at age 3,4,5,6 and then every two years thereafter.  THERE IS A SCREENING and/or IMMUNIZATION PLUS HEALTH APPRAISAL FOR DUE AT EACH APPOINTMENT.   Please stop in the office before each doctor visit and pick up a Health Exam form.  We will notify you in plenty of time ahead of a due exam or shot.  IF THIS IS NOT RECEIVED ON SCHEDULE, we are required to send out a notice TERMINATING YOUR CHILD's enrollment until the required
information has been received.
Please help us by keeping exams and immunizations up to date.

Policy relating to Illness of Children

After researching the control of infectious disease in a Child Care Center, the following guidelines have been developed, based on the requirements of the PA Department of Public Welfare and Allentown Board of Health.  The following guidelines have been adopted by Bright Futures Child Care Center, LLC.

In a child care setting, children under the age of 5 years are still in the process of developing an immune system; and consequently they will be sick from colds, viruses, flu's, etc., until they build up their immune systems.  According to statistics, children under the age of 3 may average 2 illnesses a month which will require doctor's care.

It's a fact of life that any time your children first come into contact with a large number of other people, they will be sick much more frequently when they first enroll them in any type of school situation.  After a period of time, usually a few months, you'll see them get sick much less often, although in the beginning that may be small comfort to you.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Bureau of Children Development Programs, Regulations for Child Care Centers, section 170 under Child Health:

"... The Child Care Center Staff shall have the option to deny care to ill children on any given day, or to request that a child be removed from the facility if the child is determined by the Child Care Staff to be too ill to remain in the facility for the remaining period of the day; and at the time the Child Care Staff shall notify the parent immediately that the child must be removed from the Center..."

To minimize sickness in our Child Care by preventing the spread of germs, we must exclude those children who show symptoms of illnesses and diseases to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Cold, with rash

  • Cold, not acting well enough to participate in activities, crying or lethargic, may or may not have a fever.

  • Cold with Temperature of 101 degrees.

  • Cough with Temperature of 101 degrees.

  • Bronchitis or Croup

  • Fever with Rash

  • Any signs of contagious disease
